Why did Jesus come to the earth? Jesus,
the Lamb of God, came to take away the sin of the world (1John 1:29).
What did Jesus do to take away sin?
Through the offering of His body once and for all, Jesus Christ removed sin and
sanctified His people (Hebrews 10:10). Jesus bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed (1
Peter 2:24). In Him we have
redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:14). As far as the east is from the west, so
far has He removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12).
How did Jesus accomplish
redemption? God the Father made
Jesus to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the
righteousness of God in Him (2Corinthisans 5:21).
What were the results of His
sacrifice? Through
the abundance of His grace and the gift of righteousness (we are able) to reign
in life by Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).
Where does a person’s salvation take
place? Salvation comes by faith in
your heart and you are made a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you shall confess with your mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you shall be saved. For with the
heart man believes (resulting) in righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made (resulting) in salvation.
Saved (#4982) (sozo)= “safe”; to save, deliver or protect, heal preserve,
save (self), do well, be (made) whole.
Righteousness (#13343,
#1342)= equity; innocent, holy, just, meet, right (-eous).
Salvation (#4991) (soteria)= rescue or safety: deliver, heath, salvation, save.
What are we to believe to have
salvation and reign in life: We
are to believe that God has raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 10:9).
Jesus said, I lay down My life for the sheep. No man takes it from Me,
but I lay it down of Myself. I
have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again (John 10:15-18).
Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more;
death has no more dominion over Him (Romans 6:9).
When did death enter, effecting
mankind? By Adam sin entered into the world, and death by sin: and so death passed upon all men
(Romans 5:12).
Did Jesus restore man to the place of
dominion and life that he had before sin entered? But not as the offence, so
also is the free gift. For if through the offence of Adam many be (spiritually
dead )and subject to physical death), much more the grace
of God and the gift by grace, which is by Jesus Christ, has abounded
to many. They which receive abundance of grace and the gift
of righteousness shall reign in life by Jesus Christ (Romans 5:15-17). By the righteousness of Jesus Christ
the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. As sin has reigned
unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal
life by Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 5:18,21). Through God’s gift of
righteousness and is abundant grace, we shall reign through the gift of Eternal
Life by Jesus Christ.
Justification (#1347, #1344, #1342)=
acquittal (for Christ’s sake);to render just or
innocent, be righteous, holy.
What does it mean to reign in life?
Reign (Romans 5:17 (#936)= to rule:
king, reign. From #935= (through the notion of a foundation of power): a
sovereign: king.
Sovereign (Webster’s Dictionary)=
supreme ruler; sovereign power or authority.
Possessing God-given authority and
power, we are to rule in truth and love by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We possess God’s Everlasting Life by faith in Christ
and His work of redemption.
Reigning in the Kingdom: Revelation 11:15 states, The kingdoms of this world are become the Kingdom of our
Lord, and of His Christ: and He
shall reign forever and ever. Christ is to reign in our hearts by His Word and the Holy Spirit
(Colossians 3:15,16.) We are to walk as Christ walked and do the works that He
did, for we are His image, the children in this world. We possess all things in
Christ, and have all sufficiency for every good work. We possess His love,
power and grace, which are demonstrated through us by the working of the Holy
Spirit. We are who God says we are, and we have the authority and power to do
all that Jesus did. The key is in knowing what God, in Christ, has accomplished
to free man of sin, making him a new creature, and by the Word, learn who we
have become! Let His Word dwell in our richly in all wisdom! He delights to
teach us and desires for us to “walk in the light as He is in the Light,”
meaning, live out of the truth of the Word of God, which will lead you in
righteousness, peace and joy and to be filled with the Holy Spirit and all the
fullness of Him.
